Bharati Kolte, MD
Dr. Bharati Kolte was born in Nagpur, a mid-sized city in central India. She studied medicine at the Government Medical College, Nagpur and completed her residency from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has practiced in Texas since the year 2000. For the last 13 years, she practiced hospital-based medicine at the Heart Hospital of Austin, Seton Medical Center, and other hospitals in the Austin area. She was responsible for providing care to patients in Austin Regional Clinic's Advanced Care Coordination Clinic from 2011 to 2013. While caring for chronically ill patients, she became acutely aware of the need to help patients change their lifestyle to successfully treat multiple chronic diseases. This experience led her to change her career path from hospital medicine to outpatient medicine.
In October 2017 Dr. Kolte became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and uses lifestyle modification in prevention and treatment of lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Kolte lives in Austin with her husband, 2 children, and a puppy. When not in the clinic, she loves to sing, cook, and spend time with her family and neighbors.
Monica Shipman, PA-C
Monica studied medicine at the University of Oklahoma and is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant practicing since 2006. During her career she has practiced Family Medicine, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, and Urgent Care. Monica enjoys being part of the Flora Medical team and the focus on Lifestyle Medicine. She is an empathetic provider who thrives on being a partner and mentor to patients and promoting wellness.
In 2019 Monica became a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and has completed lifestyle course certifications to become board certified.
Monica lives with her husband Josh and Shiba Inu Kiska. She loves spending time in nature, running, traveling, reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends.
Sherry Fulmer, FNP-C
Sherry Fulmer is an AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and Bachelor of Nursing at Columbus State University. Sherry’s transition to primary care is rooted in empowering patients to live in optimal health, free from many of the chronic conditions she cared for in her seven years in the Intensive Care Unit. Her international upbringing across the Middle East and Europe expanded her global perspective beyond physical health to include mental, emotional, and spiritual factors. Sherry’s journey to whole food plant based living is inspired by providing her family with nutritious, evidence-based choices. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors with her husband and two daughters. She also loves to cook, travel, and try to play golf.
Lifestyle Medicine Practice Manager
Audrey manages the practice operations and has been living and teaching the whole foods plant-based way of life since 2011. From cooking and meal planning to socializing, traveling and dining out, she loves helping patients navigate the obstacles to become successful on their journey to wellness and weight loss through lifestyle change. Audrey has master's degrees in social work and business from the University of Texas at Austin.
Kelly is a native Austinite and animal lover who enjoys writing, singing, and spending time outdoors. She studied biology at the University of Texas at Austin and has been a medical assistant since 2017. She hopes to further her career in medicine through experience and guidance from Dr. Kolte. Kelly is passionate about patient-focused health care and was drawn to Flora because of its refreshing approach to treating chronic illnesses.
Rachel fills many roles at Flora. She warmly welcomes our patients at the front desk, manages appointments, and provides our team with both administrative and clinical medical assistance.
Following her passion for good food, nutrition and exercise, Rachel is on her journey to become a nurse practitioner with a concentration in psychology and mental health and a focus in nutrition and educating others on the benefits of a whole food plant-based diet.
